I believe 1 Timothy 2 does not prohibit women from teaching.

I believe the man of lawlessness in Chapter 2 is a real man and not some other thing or institution suggested in church history.

I do not think Paul expected Jesus to return in his lifetime. Some use the Thesslonian correspondence to suport that idea, I disagree with it.

Some writers and teachers believe that Paul did not write either Ephesians or Colossians. Some believe he wrote neither. I, along with many in church history, believe Paul wrote both Ephesians and Colossians.

“Love builds up, knowledge puffs up”. I have seen that verse from 1 cointhians abused terribly by well meaning people warning other people not to study too much. It reminds me of the lady that told John Wesley that God did not need his Greek and Hebrew. Wesley, never without a retort, replied, “I am well aware of that dear lady–and neither does he need your ignorance.”

Romans 3:25 states that Jesus took the wrath of God. C. H. Dodd edited the New English Bible and did not accept the concept of the wrath of God and thus translated it differently than communicating that Jesus is our “wrath taker”. God possesses real wrath, fortunately for us, Jesus took it.

I believe the miracles in the gospel of John really happened-literally–the way the text says they did. I spoke with one of my former prof.s at an evangelical seminary. He said that he thought some of them were possibly symbolic only. Well, I suppose if you wanted to be Thomas Jefferson and re-write the gospels that could be true.

Some evangelical NT scholars paralell Luke’s history to Herodotus. Herodotus wrote fairly accurate Greek history. Unfortunately, that is the way some NT scholars view the historical accounts in the book of Acts. Acts outstrips Herodotus. Acts is actually correct in everything it asserts. Herodotus doctored things for literary purposes, Luke wrote accurate, factual and correct history.

In seminary, I had prof.’s, good evangelical men, who doubtd some of the things that Mark wrote. I believe that Mark is actually, historically accurate. I believe that Jesus actually said what the text says he said.

Along with the early church, I actually think Matthew could have been the first gospel written.
