Cato egalitarian and complementarian opinion
David Hamilton writes: “Listen to Cato in 215 B.C. urging the Romans to return to the old ways, saying that unless they set bounds on “this untamed creature [the females]…what will they not attempt?…If you suffer them to seize these bonds one by one and wrench themselves free…do you think that you will be able to endure them? The moment they begin to be your equals, the will be your superiors.” [Why Not Women, p. 91]
